Turning on Messaging in Google My Business
Transcript from Video:
Hi, I’m Geoff from the Leapfrog Internet Marketing, and this is about how to turn on the messaging for Google My Business.
So more and more, particularly the younger demographic, don’t want…when they come onto your website, they don’t want to actually pick up the phone to you or send an email, they want to have an instant chat with you or equivalent to an SMS. And some of the studies are showing actually by plugging in instant chat to websites, you can increase conversion by about 42%. So it’s definitely working for some businesses.
Well now, Google My Business is getting on the bandwagon with this, and there’s an ability now when people find you in the Google Map Pack on Google for there to be a messaging option. So, to switch this on what you’d need to do is you need to go into your Google My Business listing, and then go down to the Messaging Option here. You then need to install the app on your Android or your Apple. And then once you do that and set that up, basically when people then go to your listing and send a message, what will pop up is a notification in your phone saying there’s a message, and you can then start a conversation back and forth.
One thing to bear in mind, this isn’t suitable for all businesses. It clearly means that potentially someone could message you 24/7, but for certain businesses it’s definitely worth setting up to encourage people who wouldn’t have inquired otherwise, but feel more comfortable messaging.
That’s it. Thanks.
