Why You Shouldn’t Worry About Domain Authority Score Changing

Hi, I’m Geoff from Leapfrog Internet Marketing. And this is a little vlog on why you shouldn’t worry about domain authority score changing. So domain authority, it is a score that has been running by Moz for nearly 20 years now. And it is changing on March the 5th, 2019. So domain authority, really, is a score that ranks your SEO authority or power. So the higher your domain authority score, arguably, the more likely you are to rank on page one for different keywords.
So they’re reassessing how your website is scored with this domain authority score between 0 and 100, should you worry about it?
Well, first of all, to find out your domain authority score – Google MozBar, the easiest way really, and download the MozBar app for your browser. I think it’s available. We’ll set it up for Chrome. And then if you go to your website, say for example, Leapfrog Internet Marketing, you then get the MozBar at the top. And this shows you a domain authority of 23.
What’s more important is your score is likely to change. I think, particularly, they’re trying to score websites based on more up-to-date Google, the Google algorithm. But what’s more important is, will your score change against your competition? So you can quite quickly by doing a search for a term that you wanna be found for. You can, with the MozBar, see what your competition are ranked for. And if you’re a customer of Leapfrog Internet Marketing, in the competition section of your reports, you can see your domain authority score against the competition.
If your domain authority score changes, it’s highly likely your competitors will. And that’s nothing really, really to worry about it. It’s all about your authority score against your competition. But clearly, if your authority drops and your competitions doesn’t drop or even rises, then that is a cause for concern that means, maybe you’re not as well optimized for getting onto Google page one.
So I hope that gives you help with this. If you’ve got any questions, let me know.
