Our challenge was two-fold: we needed to be found on Google not only to drive internet sales but we also needed to generate bookings for bespoke orders at our studio. Although we were getting some traffic to our site it wasn’t enough to generate sufficient enquiries, so we decided to look at improving our rankings. We operate in a niche sector, competing with some big players who can afford to spend a fortune on SEO, so we engaged the services of an external agency and decided to boost our rankings by investing in Google Ads. However, this approach didn’t work for us. The seasonal nature of the business meant that while Google Ads would help generate interest in the quieter Winter months, they didn’t work during the Spring/Summer season when we make our largest volume of sales. During these months, once the click rate was reached, the site would drop off the top of the page. This meant we lost visibility and hence those vital enquiries. The Ads were no longer delivering any benefit. This limitation, along with the general consensus that customers inherently don’t trust Google Ads, led to the decision to focus on moving up the rankings using natural, organic means. Only this would help the business achieve the sustained growth required.

We receive a lot of spam marketing offers from SEO agencies, but wanted to go with a company that could be vouched for and we could therefore trust.

In particular, the monthly reports are excellent. They helped us understand exactly how the site was performing, summarising any improvements, providing detailed graphics and the option to drill down for more detail. The Company Director, Geoff Roy, also provides video reports, to help explain the topline results. As SEO is a hidden science, this has made the whole process a lot clearer.
Indeed, over the first 6-month period, search traffic has increased by over 550%. Rebecca Couture Millinery is now being found for over 300 keywords – up from 111 beforehand – and we’ve achieved page 1 rankings for at least 85 keywords relating to our key products. The site is now found on Google nearly 5000 times per month and an additional 800+ users visit the site monthly.
