Copywriter and Content (Outreach) Executive – Part-time

Leapfrog Internet Marketing manages the SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) for 30+ clients, focusing on achieving page 1 Google rankings in the natural search results.
The business is growing fast, and now needs a part-time Outreach Executive (what is outreach?!) to write copy for clients, and get it placed on other websites.

We’re not expecting you to have done outreach before, as we’ll train you up. We’re looking for good wordsmiths who can write copy people want to read, and can convince other people to publish that copy on their website. Simple !

Your new job role…

The successful candidate will be responsible for writing content on other websites to further improve Google search rankings for clients. The business has 30+ clients, all with very different businesses operating in different markets. However, they share one thing in common; they need their website to either generate enquiries into the business, or actually use the website to generate sales (e-commerce).

Therefore, every day will be different with a wide set of skills and knowledge being learnt and applied. One day may involve writing a blog post about becoming a lorry driver; another day might involve contacting website editors to see if they’d like to publish your article on tips around choosing a bathroom. Every client is different, so a flexible approach will be needed – no size fits all.

On a daily basis, you will be working with the director of Leapfrog at the office based in Fleet, as well as communicating with clients, copywriters, website editors and publishers.

To start with, the candidate will receive specific training for a set task and client, and then asked to complete the task and report back. However, over the weeks and months, as confidence grows and the candidate starts to understand more about what is required, the role will be become much more independent, with performance reported on a monthly basis.

On-the-job training will include 1:2:1 tuition, plus attendance at SEO conferences, online webinars and online research.

What you might do on a typical day…

  1. Research article ideas online for a new client
  2. Research websites that accept guest posts from copywriters
  3. Contact 20 website editors and pitch your article to them
  4. Write a 600 word article for a particular website who liked your idea
  5. Promote a published article on social media
  6. Contact fashion bloggers about reviewing some products for a client
  7. Following up on emails to editors sent last week about a particular pitch

In summary, SEO today is a combination of technical SEO and content marketing. Therefore, the successful candidate will be a big part of the content marketing side of things, and getting that content published on industry or niche websites.

If you can do the following, you’re the right person for the role…

  • Be creative, come up with content ideas, pitch them and implement them.
  • Be able to craft and write articles/posts,etc to fit a specific brief.
  • Develop long term relationships with editors, publishers and webmasters of other websites.
  • Attend to the detail, and make sure every t is crossed, every i is dotted.
  • Have a solid work discipline to get stuff done.

Full Day Birthday Holiday

SALARY: £12 per hour, increasing to £15 per hour as performance improves

10 hours per week to start with
3 days per week, between 09:30 and 14:30 (flexible)
Hampshire term time only, if necessary
